Studio Policies
Terms & Conditions
Please read the following terms carefully before booking an appointment at Electric Lady Tattoos.
Last updated: May 2025
1. General
These terms and conditions apply to all tattoo services provided by Electric Lady Tattoos, located at 48 Crown Street, Reading, Berkshire, RG1 2SE. By booking an appointment or receiving a tattoo at our studio, you agree to be bound by these terms.
2. Appointments & Booking
Electric Lady Tattoos operates on an appointment-only basis, Tuesday to Saturday. Appointments can be booked by email at info@electricladytattoos.co.uk, or by contacting your preferred artist directly via Instagram.
Walk-in appointments may occasionally be available but are not guaranteed. We recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred date, time, and artist.
3. Deposits
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your tattoo appointment. The deposit amount will be confirmed by your artist at the time of booking. The deposit is deducted from the total cost of your tattoo on the day of your appointment.
Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. They exist to compensate the artist for time spent on custom design work and to secure the appointment slot.
4. Cancellation & Rescheduling
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 48 hours' notice by contacting your artist or emailing us. We understand that circumstances change and will do our best to accommodate rescheduling requests.
- 48+ hours' notice: Your deposit may be transferred to a rescheduled appointment at the artist's discretion.
- Less than 48 hours' notice: Your deposit will be forfeited.
- No-show: Your deposit will be forfeited and future bookings may require a higher deposit.
5. Age Requirement & Identification
You must be 18 years of age or older to receive a tattoo at Electric Lady Tattoos. This is a legal requirement in England and Wales — under no circumstances will we tattoo anyone under the age of 18.
You will be required to present valid photographic identification (passport or driving licence) before your tattoo appointment. If you cannot provide suitable ID, we reserve the right to refuse the appointment. No exceptions will be made.
6. Health Conditions & Contraindications
It is your responsibility to inform your artist of any medical conditions, allergies, skin conditions, or medications that may affect the tattooing process or healing. This includes but is not limited to:
- Blood-borne conditions (e.g. HIV, Hepatitis)
- Bleeding disorders or blood-thinning medication
- Diabetes
- Skin conditions (e.g. eczema, psoriasis, keloid scarring)
- Allergies (particularly to metals, latex, or inks)
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Immunosuppressive conditions or medications
We reserve the right to refuse or postpone a tattoo if we believe it poses a health risk to you. We strongly advise against being tattooed while pregnant, breastfeeding, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
7. Consent
Before your tattoo appointment, you will be required to complete and sign a consent form. This form confirms that you understand the tattooing process, the associated risks, and that you consent to receiving the tattoo. You must be sober and of sound mind when signing the consent form.
8. Pricing & Payment
Our standard rate is priced per piece. The total cost of your tattoo depends on the size, complexity, placement, and time required. Your artist will provide a quote during consultation based on your design.
We accept payment by cash and all major credit and debit cards. Full payment is due on the day of your appointment. Your deposit will be deducted from the total cost.
9. Aftercare Responsibility
Your artist will provide aftercare instructions after your tattoo session. Detailed aftercare guidance is also available on our aftercare page. It is your responsibility to follow these instructions carefully.
Electric Lady Tattoos is not liable for any complications, infections, or unsatisfactory healing that results from failure to follow aftercare instructions, exposure to unsanitary conditions, or pre-existing medical conditions. Touch-ups due to poor aftercare may be subject to an additional charge.
10. Photography & Social Media
We may photograph your tattoo for portfolio, social media, and promotional purposes. Photographs will typically show only the tattooed area and will not include identifying features unless you give explicit permission. If you do not wish your tattoo to be photographed or shared, please inform your artist before your session. We are happy to respect your preference.
11. Copyright & Design Ownership
All custom tattoo designs created by our artists remain the intellectual property of the artist and Electric Lady Tattoos. Custom designs are created exclusively for the client who commissioned them and should not be reproduced, copied, or distributed without permission.
12. Limitation of Liability
Electric Lady Tattoos maintains full licensing, uses sterile single-use equipment, and follows all health and safety regulations. However, tattooing inherently carries risks including but not limited to pain, swelling, infection, allergic reaction, and scarring. By signing the consent form and proceeding with your tattoo, you acknowledge these risks and agree that Electric Lady Tattoos shall not be held liable for any adverse reactions, complications, or dissatisfaction arising from the tattoo, except where caused by negligence on our part.
13. Refunds
Due to the permanent nature of tattooing, refunds are not offered once a tattoo has been completed. If you are unhappy with your tattoo, please speak with your artist — we will always work with you to find a resolution, which may include complimentary touch-up work where appropriate.
14. Studio Conduct
We aim to maintain a safe, welcoming, and professional environment for all clients and staff. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who:
- Appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Is unable to provide valid photo ID confirming they are 18+
- Behaves in an abusive, threatening, or disrespectful manner
- Requests designs that are offensive, hateful, or discriminatory
15. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to update these terms and conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of our services following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
